NVIDIA and Arc Institute introduce Evo2 , an AI for understanding and creating DNA. It was trained on 9.3 trillion 'letters' of DNA code, carefully chosen from a huge collection of genomes from across the entire tree of life. Scientists can now write DNA with AI, thanks to the new Evo 2 model. After years of research, they've created the largest AI model for biology, trained on a massive amount of genetic information from across the tree of life. Right now, understanding and manipulating DNA is incredibly complex, especially the "non-coding" regions that control how genes work. Evo 2 is designed to change that. It can read and generate entirely new DNA sequences, up to 1 million base pairs long. Think of it like this: Previous AI could read a book (DNA). Evo2 can write a completely new book, designing genes, chromosomes, and even whole genomes. Arc Institute says Evo2 is a major step towards "generative biology" – using AI to design and create new biol...
